Light Therapy Program
A therapy laser and Phovia are both forms of light therapy, but are utelized in different situations. It emits light at a specific wavelength to penetrate a determined tissue depth to reduce swelling and stimulate blood flow to aid in healing and control pain.
Therapy laser is standard as part of our surgery packages. This treatment is done post-operatively over the surgical field. Therapy laser can also be used to aid in and speed the healing of open wounds or fractures. It has become a cornerstone of our management plans for arthritis and pivotal in the treatment of back pain and spinal disc disease. We can even use it to help reduce inflammation with a variety of other conditions such as ear infections, abscesses, anal gland ruptures, cystitis (bladder inflammation), stomatitis (inflammation within the mouth), muscle strains, etc.
Phovia is targeted specifically for wound management and skin infections. It does not penetrate deeper into the muscular tissue as a therapy laser does, but can offer more drastic benefits with skin specific diseases in the right situations. We have noted drastic benefits with wound healing.
